Somatic therapy is a holistic approach that focuses on the connection between the mind and body to address emotional, mental, and physical trauma. It is grounded in the understanding that the body holds onto unresolved emotional experiences and traumatic memories, which can manifest as physical tension, chronic pain, or anxiety. This approach is particularly effective for treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, and other emotional and somatic disorders. The primary goal of somatic therapy is to help individuals become more aware of their bodily sensations and to use this awareness to process and release emotional trauma stored in the body. Somatic therapy uses body awareness, gentle physical movements, and specific techniques to help the nervous system regulate itself and process unresolved emotional experiences.
